Jackie, don't skip 'The Taking'! It was the very first Dean Koontz that I've ever read and I thought it was so awesome that I was inspired to read more of his books. I followed up with 'Odd Thomas', 'False Memory' and 'By the Light of the Moon'. All were good, but I wouldn't have read them at all if I hadn't picked up 'The Taking' out of a freebie box at work. The writing was incredible in that book. The description was beautiful and I felt like I was right there. Anyway, don't skip reading it.
Thanks to everyone who recommended "Congo" by Michael Crichton ... an older book of his, and I enjoyed it very much!
I also read a short story collection "The Pastures of Heaven" by John Steinbeck, from very early in his writing career.
Rita Ciresi's "Pink Slip" reminded me a bit of the people and places in a Plum novel ... main character is a late 20's career woman, best friend is her gay cousin ... focus on dating, sexuality ... ok, but not involving enough to keep me reading.
Hi Teri! I loved Congo by Crichton. I was on a huge Crichton kick a few years ago and remember reading that along with Jurrasic Park and Sphere in close succession. All great books!
