Is your current read so excellent you'd like to set off fireworks, or so lame you'd like to throw it onto the BBQ coals?

John Steinbeck's "The Moon is Down" was mildly depressing ... about a tiny village taken over by Germans in WWII ... but it also showed the simple townspeople to be incredibly loyal to each other and discovering bravery in their spirits they never realized they were capable of.

<I am reading _Big Cherry Holler_ by Adirana Trigiani. It's the sequel to _Big Stone Gap_. I'm liking this more than the first one, which I read a few weeks ago. A lot of it takes place in Italy which is more interesting to me than her home town.
The main character seems a lot more sophisticated than the rest of the townspeople, including her husband, and I am having a hard time believing that she could relate so well to these people and be happy to stay there. Probably just my own Northeast prejudice.
How 'bout a list of what I WISH I were reading??

I stayed up way too late last night, almost missed my bus stop for work this morning and I can't stop thinking about the book! I just want to go hide in the bathroom and read! LOL
