Hello! I'm Kim and I'm so glad I found a place where people are talking books! I live and breathe my books and don't know many in the real world who loves them like I do! Right now, I'm reading HP & THBP, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrel, The DaVinci Code and Sense & Sensibility. Yes, I have all these books going at the same time -- just depends on my mood which one I pick up at any given time of day.

I love love love fiction and my current favorites are the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde and all things Terry Pratchett.

I'm also trying to read all the "Classics" before I'm 40, which gives me 6 years!

I love all things Jasper Fforde -- and funnily enough, it was because of his books that I'm determined to get through all the classics. See, in his Thursday Next series of books, he references everything from Jane Eyre (The Eyre Affair) to Humpty Dumpty. He's such a brilliantly funny, imaginative writer.

I'm struggling a little bit with Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrell; it's quite slow-paced, it seems. However, I am determined to get to the good bits! :)

As for the Thursday Next series -- I have read through them all three times now, they're so brilliant. What I love the most is how incredibely intricate the plots are -- small occurences in "Eyre" will pop up again in "Rotten", etc. The stories are so layered and complex that the series can be read over and over and you discover something new each time.

If you like Jasper Fforde and his dry, British wit, you will love Terry Pratchett. His Discworld series is part fantasy, part satire and a whole lot of fun. I believe there are 20+ books in the series and any of the books can be read independently. Discworld is a flat planet that rests on the back of four elephants who in turn stand upon the back of a turtle (and nobody knows what the turtle stands on). There are nosy witches, inept wizards, cosmopolitan vampires and activist trolls. (hmm, I sound like a back-cover blurb!)

You can visit Terry's world at http://www.terrypratchettbooks.com. Highly recommended!

Hi. I just kind of stumbled upon this board looking for book suggestions. I recently realized that life had become so hectic that I haven't actually sat down and read a book in (gasp!) years and I really miss it. I'm a mom of a 2 year old with another one on the way and started realizing that my life has slowly become my kids and that I wasn't doing anything for me anymore. So, I've decided that I need to get back into some of the things I love and start doing some things just for me.

I have recently started "Good in Bed" after reading "Little Earthquakes" and bought "Memoirs of a Geisha" and will hopefully get to read Harry Potter (#6) after my husband is finished with it. I'm always looking for book suggestions and, if no one minds, I think I'll hang around here for a bit to see what other people are reading and what they suggest.
