Wise women say "Confession is good for the reader's soul", so here's a place to clear our conscionous (sp) ....

Here's what makes me feel guilty; when I take a new book from a shipment before any of the patrons can read it. (I'm a librarian, for those of you who don't know.)At school it's not usually a problem but when I worked in the public library, a few times patrons would ask for a book and *I* would be the one reading it. I *do* try to read a popular book as fast as possible, though. So others can enjoy it as well.

I have a confession about one of my favorite books EVER, "Blessed Are the Cheesemakers" by Sarah-Kate Lynch.

I, too, snatched a couple of my ex's books when we split up. I never knew if he missed them. He's never said anything. My guess is he didn't or didn't imagine I had them. I have been guilty of retrieving some of my books from my sister's house when she wasn't looking. We share a lot of books back and forth and often I give her a great book and occassionally she doesn't read

Oh Teri-that is an awesome idea- that is still one my favorite books ever! I think she has a new one coming out this month: "Eating with the Angels"
Connie Farrell, a New York restaurant critic, is sitting in a first class seat on her way to Venice for the second honeymoon of a lifetime. There's only one problem - Tom, her high school sweetheart and husband of ten years, is not sitting next to her. The seat is empty. But Connie does not immediately lose her appetite for pleasure. Arriving in Venice she meets Marco, a handsome gondolier who sates her with every kind of mouth-watering delicacy...But all is not quite as it seems, and back in New York Connie is dealt the cruellest blow imaginable. Suddenly, there's nothing on the menu but heartache and sorrow, and no amount of delectable cooking will make up for the desperate situation which she faces. A novel about food, about second chances, about parents and children, about New York and Venice, and about love, more delicious than any four star meal...

Okay back to the thread. I have a few books that I've borrowed from friends that are gathering dust... I warned them that it might be a while. I feel guilty sometimes when I check out more books taht I know I can read in two weeks from the library- especially the ones from the New section. I feel real guilty when I have to renew them because I know there are probably others waiting.

"A year later I picked it up and noticed *no one* else had checked it out! Wanting to rush it into the hands of an appreciative reader, I surreptitiously (sp) took it from the shelf and added it to the library's featured "Quick Picks" shelf, which gets lots of browsers."

That is too cool! And funny.

I'll have to check this book out since you give it such a great review AND you've taken such great lengths to get others to read it!

No need to blush, Teri!

Being a book-a-holic is a wonderful thing! One of the best (and quite healthy, I might add) things to be addicted to!

A "bletherer" is someone who talks a lot. LOL. Also written "blather" and a dictionary says: to chatter

to talk foolishly at length -- often used with on

If you click on the blinkie itself, it will take you to the "Over 40 and Loving It" board where cl-annelee55 is. She had the blinkie made and loves to blether. LOL.

Blether is more of a British word.
