Hi Everyone,
We had our book club meeting last week. The person who hosted chose "young adult" as our genre` for this month. We are reading "The Giver" by Lois Lowry and "Fever 1793" by Laurie Halse Anderson. These were excellent choices!!! I read both last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed them. I went to B&N and bought Anderson's book "Speak" which I also read last weekend. It was wonderful! If you have not read any of these books do yourself a favor and read them this summer!
I am hosting the meeting next month and am in search of something great in "Southern Fiction". If you have any ideas, let me know. Sue

I love young adult literature! I think it's too bad so many people brush it off and never discover some of the wonderful books that are out there.
Southern Fiction huh? I haven't read it but one of my friends from work says that Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisaterhood by Rebecca Wells is a fun read and I loved the movie so I'm sure the book is ever so much better.

There's a reading group guide that might be helpful and fun
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg is another read that I hear is great and funn. Also a great movie. Perhaps you could read the book and after your discussions have a movie night and talk about book to film. Here's another site with a reading group guide:

Good luck and let us know what you're reading- maybe some of us can read along with you
I just got finished reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Amy Brashaers and plan on finishing the series.
