Wasn't it amazing Sue? It was my favorite read of July. I read it incredibly fast because I simply couldn't put it down. LOVED it!

Hi Teri,

My summer has been slow and boring. One of my maltese girls started on the fourth of July with an extruded disc in the cervical area. Vet said if it was going to heal it would take about six weeks. I have been carrying her around on a silver platter. She is on prednisolone, muscle relaxers and sedatives to keep her quiet. We are starting the fifth week now and she seems to be improving. If not she will need surgery ($5000). so needless to say we have done nothing this summer. My dogs mean an awful lot to me, they are my babies!!!

As for my book club read this month. We read two young adult books "The Giver" and "Fever 1793", they were both fabulous. I also did the Oprah Faulkner challange this summer so now I am reading "Light in August". Faulkner will never be a favorite of mine!!

Thanks for asking and I hope I didn't bore you with the puppy talk! Sue

Hi Teri,

Thanks for the well wishes for Boo Boo! The next book club meeting is August 22 at my house. We are having a pasta night. Everyone is bringing some type of pasta, I will supply shrimp with linguini and a caesar salad.

The genre I have chosen for this mon is southern fiction! I have a few suggestions including Michael Lee West "Crazy Ladies". I read that a few years ago and loved it. Also there is a new book out called "Gods in Alabama", it also looks good. I'll choose no more than four and let them vote. Will let you know the outcome. I just love book club. We call ourselves "Better than Therapy Book club". We have been through a lot of personal challanges. We spend the first part of the meeting just chatting about our lives. Then we put a halt to that and start discussing the book. Some books leave very little to be said. During dessert we choose the next book and pick a date for the meeting. You may host it at your house or a restaurant. I plant a lot of flowers and have a huge deck and pond so I always try to have one summer meeting at my house!
