Has anyone read "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova

It seems to be a popular title and the story intigues me- I have it on my TBR list- wondering if it's worth pushing it further up the rung..

I'm on the hold list at my library and the last time I checked I'm number 65! I have a friend that read it and she liked it a lot.

I had put it on my library's request list when it first came out, and at the time, I think I was number 50-something in line.

I've heard good things about it, and what I read about the story intrigued me. I bought the book last Friday at Sam's Club, but haven't started it yet. Gae

I read it and posted a review over on the Fiction Lovers board. I was really looking forward to the book because the premise sounded so wonderful, but for me it just didn't deliver. I love, love, love Dracula stories, but Kostova didn't come up with anything very compelling.

This book had such a great premise and I got it immediately after it came out. Oh, was I disappointed in it. It started out great, but then about 1/2 way through, she started to go on and on and on about monk migration patterns in the 1400's ad nauseum. I ended up skimming the last 100 pages just to see how it ended, although at that point I didn't really care too much. When I returned it to the library, I was so frustrated that I had spent so much time and energy reading this when I could have read something else. Ugh!

I am just reading it now,I am on chapter 13 and so far I like it.It is long and you do have to read it a little slowly cause it gets confusing. We'll see as it goes on but i find it very interesting.
