You've cme to the right place for book recommendations- we love to share our favorites! I have finally gotten a copy of Sue Monk Kidds' "Mermaid Chair" so that's my current read. I have two more ready to go when that one is done. "Murder on Monday" a new mystery series by Ann Purser and "Steps to the Alter" by Earlene Fowler who writes Benni Harper mysteries I've been reading all summer

Some reads or authoers to look into....

anything by Elizabeth Berg
Jodi Piccoult is another favorite author here
"The Five People You Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom is a must read
"Angels and Demons" and "Davinci Code" if you havent gotten to them yet
"Stone Garden" by Molly Moynahan and "Lovely Bones" by ALice Sebold are two of my favorites of 2005
Nora Roberts
Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
the list goes on and on but those are some of my favs

What sort of books do you enjoy reading?

I just started A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby. So far so good. I have also read About A Boy by the same author and loved it.

Thanks cl-maggie for replying. I perfer to read memoirs or bio's. I like to see into other peoples lives, their accomplishments, their success and obstacles. I have a few favorite authors whose work I'm always looking for such as Bebe Moore Campbell, John Grisham.

Gloria, since you like bio's and memoirs you might want to try "The Bear's Embrace" by Patricia Van Tighem. It's her story about her and her husband being mauled by a grizzly bear while they were hiking and her story of how she dealt with the physical and emotional scars. It was an amazing story. I mostly read just mysteries myself, but my coworker gave me the book to read.

Gloria, you might like a book called, 'Ice Bound: A Doctor's Incredible Battle for Survival at the South Pole', by Jerri Nielsen. She is the doctor who was stranded for months in Antarctica with breast cancer. She had to begin her own treatment and was unable to get back until the weather permitted flights in and out of Antarctica.

My mom just read Don't Kiss them Goodbye by Allison Dubois and she enjoyed it.
