Easy Access at your Library

Continuing with our love of libraries. How easy is it for you to get the book you want at your library? Gone are the days of the card catalogue- seems like everything is computerized at your library. I still miss flipping through in search of my book though. Is finding a book or author quick and easy or frustrating? What if your library doesn't have the book you're looking for- is it easy to find at another library?
How does your library rate in this modern world of technology?

That's great that you're active helping out your local branch.
Most of the time getting the book(s) can be easy. May mean getting on a 'hold' list but knowing the books are available is a good feeling. I have 4 library cards - four are for suburban libraries and one can also be used for the Ft. Worth public library system. Many libraries have created agreements making it possible for patrons to get a card at another suburban library without paying a fee. The system here in the Fort Worth area is terrific and I have only kudos for them. And if the book I want isn't available there's always interlibrary loans. These libraries are definitely up-to-date in the world of technology.
But you are right about one thing, Maggie - I also miss flipping through those little cards to find a writer or book. Mixed in with that slightly musty 'library' smell, it was comforting.

Our library system here is quite technologically advanced, I can do just about anything (short of read the books) online.
