I haven't been here in a while.... I am happy to say I've found time to read and have enjoyed two books. (Sorry if I'm a little behind the times... I tend to read paperbacks that are former bestsellers!) Anyway, I just finished The Girl With the Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier - loved it. I was not sure about this book, but she had me hooked on page 2 by her writing style. I'm a big fan of historical fiction, so to whisk me off to a different country and a different time is right up my alley.

Before that I finished The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Again, loved it. That is one of those books that I miss the characters after I'm done with the book.

Take care!

This is an old book by Rosamonde Pilcher (she is the author of the Shell Seekers). It is Coming Home and is set in England around the 1930's. The main character is Judith Dunbar and the book follows her life. The gist of the story is that her parents and younger sister have moved to Singapore for her fathers' job. Judith stays in England at a boarding school with a new friend and gets 'adopted' by the friend. The friend's family lives a very wealthy life. It is pretty good actually.
