The Chronicles of Narnia. I thought that was mandatory reading for all kids, but I never could get into it. I wonder if I'd like it now?

Anything by John Steinbeck or Charles Dickens. There are more, but those two just came to mind. Gae

Hi Maggie! I hadn't read To Kill a Mockingbird until just last year either. Boy was I ever missing out! This isn't just a book to read because you think you should. It is truly one of the great books of all time and is incredibly readable. It moves quickly and you are completely engrossed in the story the entire time. Put this on your TBR list soon. You will not be disappointed!

but I've never read The Great Gatsby. There are so many classics that I've never read and that is next on my classics list to read.

Shakespeare... it was required reading in high school, but I cheated with skimming Cliff Notes.

Oh, Scrappy. You HAVE to read the Great Gatsby! Fitzgerald is so eloquent the words just sing right off the page. Try it with a glass of Champagne and Rhapsody in Blue on in the background. It's a wonderful book to read in the evenings outside this time of year.

I promise you'll love it. It's my second favorite book of all time...behind To Kill a Mockingbird ;-)
