Welcome Back, Beth!

One of Fall's many pleasures is seeing friends return to the boards after the busy Summer months!

Thanks for the warm welcome back, Teri! There are so many great books that have come out recently (in hardback or newly to paperback) that choosing books was really difficult this time. I've switched to all women authors so that narrows the field a bit, but not much! Also, I've shifted away from classics as they just don't move for me.

Let's see, in new additions there's Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, Janet Evanovich's The Rocky Road to Romance (newly republished), The Year of Pleasures by Elizabeth Berg (can't believe how popular it is) and Terry McMillan's newest.

I'll take you up on your offer of a new thread. I could use some fresh ideas for the holidays.

Rachel is doing amazingly well. She's talking a mile a minute and comes up with new expressions every day. Today it's "okay", but this weekend we got a kick out of "right now!". She'd jump instead of walk anywhere if she could and started a mom and tot tumbling class last month that she loves loves loves. Thanks for asking!

Thanks, Maggie! It's nice to be back to the posting world.

You know, I think I've decided that the hardest part about being between books for me is dealing with the "shoulds". Especially in regards to your unread classics thread. There are so many great books I'd love to read and so many on my TBR I keep promising I'll get to (just don't ask me who I'm promising, LOL!) that it takes most of the fun out of it. I've decided this month to just read the next one

Thanks, Michelle!! You'll laugh, but when I started kicking the idea around almost 3 years ago now (where the heck does the time go?!) it didn't occur to me that the site would mostly be gifts. I envisioned a place where women would go to plan their own next great escape. Blame it on that "Comes the Dawn" poem about planting your own flowers instead of waiting for someone to give them to you. LOL!

I do love the fact that 99% of my gift purchasers are women though and they're all buying for other women. I LOVE to read the cards and the responses I sometimes get (yours is still my favorite though *blushing
