Ok, so I got a book in the mail yesterday (Thanks Liz) thru BookCrossing. I went to the site to leave a journal entry and I started wondering around the site. Right away I was sucked in.

I went ahead and put 3 book in my bookshelf. I'm sending one out to a friend and another one will be left at my hubby's work to be caught. I have 1 more up for grabs. How fun.

I do have a question though. Say I am in search of a book and somone has it availabe on their bookshelf. Can I request it or anything? The book that I still have up for grabs, can someone just let me know that they want it and I can send it to them?

Ok, thanks for all the info Teri.

I'm glad you mentioned the extended profiles because I haven't been reading any of them. I wouldn't want to be considered rude.

I plan on returning to the used book store soon to buy a bunch of books to put on my AVL list. I don't want to ask someone to trade if I have next to nothing to offer.

I think the best part of the whole thing is the hunting part. I think it would be so fun to find a book!

Marge is right on about the cheap books at yard sales and library used book sales.

I stocked my AVL shelves from those, and also from local thrift stores.

Of coarse you can add me to your list of friends Teri.

I hadn't thought about looking for books at Thrift Stores. There's one a few minutes from here I can check out. Plus my library is having a big sale either this weekend coming up or the next. One night this week I plan on going to my used book store. They have a whole back wall with books that are 25 cents to a dollar.

I'm so excited about this whole BookCrossing thing!

How great! It's fun and addicting. A great way to get involved, particularly when you shelf is still growing is sign up for book rings/rays. If you go to the forum for rings/rays you can sign up for as many as you like.

Also, personally I have no trading policy come one come all. ;o) Link to my shelf in my sig.
