Time again to band together and talk about our favorite thing... books.

Who has a story to tell since our last meeting. Don't be shy we've all done whatever it is you've done at least once in our book buying lives.

What's your latest purchase? The last book store you went into? Your last visit to the library? Nothing is too personal for those of us who share your obsession. Heck, this is where some of us get new ideas for more books.

I'm a book-a-holic and I love ME

"While I Disappear" is the second in Edward Wright's John Ray Horn series. If you haven't read the first book "Clea's Moon", I highly recommend it. The series takes place after WWII. John Ray Horn is a former western actor, who after returning from the war, went back into the business but had a misadventure which landed him in prison. Because of his record, he's basically black-balled from acting. So he collects gambling debts and works as 'muscle' for his friend, Joseph Mad Crow. In "While I Disappear", John and Joseph are in a bar for a drink when an actress-friend of Ray Horn's recognizes him. He's surprised at how low she has come in life. They talk awhile then leave. Later the actress disappears and further events make John realize he owes her a debt regarding his own former acting career. The investigation takes him into people from her past as well as his own. Edward Wright's writing, to me, is seamless. It seems to flow and keep a reader gripped till the very end. If he keeps in this way, his books will be compard to Raymond Chandler and other outstanding mystery writers.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I just got back from Amazon :) I ordered Gods in Alabama and Wives and Sisters for myself, and just found a site that said it is "Buy a friend a book week" so I'm sending a Confessions of Super Mom to a girlfriend in Tampa.

I also discovered that there is a sequel to Confessions of Super Mom coming out in the spring/summer, so the future of my nightstand looks bright.

Christopher Moore is a wacky, talented writer and I had a ball reading 'Fluke'. Hope you like it!

I'm Ann, and I'm a proudly admitted book-a-holic!

The last book I bought was Stephen King's "The Colorado Kid" on October 5, I think, and it was in a Wal-Mart in Gadsden, AL.
