OK.. DH has given me the OK to spend a good bit of money on books when we get our tax refund back early next year.. SOOO.. I thought I'd ask you ladies if you know of any really good series authors(kinda like Rowling did with the HP series) I already have a bunch of Stephen King(and all his alias names) and Dean Koontz, V.C. Andrews, and Anne Rice(and of course Rowling)
Are there any other "series" authors out there that are really good reads, and keep you wanting the next book in the series?(I know with the HP books I was flat out MAD that she was taking so long to release them one by one..lol that to me is a sign of a great author and good books that keep you entranced.) I'm hoping to find more books that will keep me entertained for a long while.. because I read so fast(hence why I'm wanting series books) For example, DH *just* bought me all the HP books about 2 weeks ago, and I'm finished with all of them except Half Blood Prince(only one we didn't buy because its not on paperback yet)..thats 6 books, in less than 2 weeks (all while dealing with a 2yr old and a newborn mind you..lol multi-tasking rocks!) and the last couple of the HP books were fairly thick.. around 800 pages in paperback. So.. I need some names to look for!! Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
(oh...as a sideline, I don't like non-fictional books most of the time.. and definitely no self-helps etc.. strictly fictional for me..I use books as an escape into another world..so nonfics just don't work well with me..lol)

Money to spend on books! You must be in seventh heaven.
Some ideas for series books:
Mysteries: Laurie King's Sherlock Holmes/Mary Russell series. (The Beekeeper's Apprentice, A Monstrous Regiment Of Women, et al.)
Dana Stabenow's Kate Shugak series.
Sara Paretsky's VI Warshawski series (Fire Sale is the most recent.)
Dorothy Gilman's Mrs Pollifax series. (good for a laugh.)
Perri O'Shaughnessy's Nina Reilly series.
Romance/Other:
Jean Auel's Earth's Children series. Clan Of The Cave Bear is the first.
Sara Donati's series. Four books so far. Starts with Into The Wilderness. VERY like Gabaldon's Outlander series in its tone, except there's no time travel involved, LOL. But in the most recent book, Donati's character actually mentions Claire and Jamie Fraser!
You didn't say if you like SF/Fantasy, but if you do, I have a whole SLEW of series there to recommend to you, LOL.
Happy Reading!
John Sandfords Prey series
James Patterson both his nursery rhyme ones and his women murder group (the # ones)
I started Orson Scott Cards 'ender series' which are sci-fi but good but I am only on the 2nd so far. Also he has a women of the bible series starting with Sarah that I have heard is really good.
Will think some more! k
This is the first time I've posted here, but I had a few ideas.
If you like mysteries, Elizabeth George has a great series. There are characters (the detective, etc.) that remain constant throughout all of the novels, but each book is very different. They take place in England. I think there are 13 or 14, and most of them are pretty long.
If you like fluffy books, the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella is pretty fun. Also Jennifer Weiner has four books. The first two are about the same people, but the second two aren't. You might like the second two, because they are about young mothers with kids.
Also, Maeve Binchy writes some great books. She doesn't really have a series, per se, but the stories all have characters in common. The books take place mostly in Ireland. Some of them are long, but others are short.
Just some ideas. I hope this helps.

Welcome, Jessica :)
Thanks for stopping in and posting.
The cedar cove books are great....I get them in hardcover though as that is all I will read!
Hi & Welcome, Erika~
Thanks for stopping by and posting!
I saw several authors and books that I love already posted.. Diana Gabaldon and Anne Rice among them!
Other that I love and couldn't stop reading are:
Anne McCaffrey - Dragonriders of Pern (lots of books)
Piers Anthony - Xanth novels (more than 10, fast easy reads and tons of puns)
These next two are more magician-magic oriented:
Terry Goodkind ("Sword of Truth" is the first in the series)
Melanie Rawn (3 different series of 3 books each)
Raymond Feist ("The Riftwar Saga")
Lilian Jackson has tons of "The cat who..." books. (Murder-mysteries)
And the books I am going through right now are by Terry Brooks and his "The sword of Shannara" series. There are tons of books in these series!
I hope you find books you like!
