I just finished Carole Radziwill's What Remains - great book - I'd highly recommend it.

I also just finished A Million Little Pieces by James Frey. It's not a subject matter I would usually choose but so many people in my office were reading and discussing it that I thought I'd give it a go. It was very good but not to the extent that Oprah hyped it up.
I'm thinking about reading My Friend Leonard which is the sequel to A Million Little Pieces - but I might wait a bit before getting back into that story again since I didn't love A Million Little Pieces.

I would like to read the bestselling book by Joan Didion. Can't think of the name but it has been on the bestsellers list for quite some time now.

I also have Joan Didion's "Year of Magical Thinking" on my TBR list this year. It's not my usual read but must admit I was intrigued by the inside flap and it has been selling quickly at the bookstore where I work.
maybe we can compare notes when we get around to reading it:)

How graphic is A Million Little Pieces? I have wanted to read it but the subject matter hits very close to home so I'm not sure if I should.

I am reading Chicano by Richard Vasquez. I am about a quarter of the way through and so far it is really good. It is the story of a family from Mexico who came to California after the Mexican revolution and what happens to them. It is a multi-generational story and at this point in the book it is during WWII and the first generation of kids who were born in the US are in their late teens and early 20s. So we've got some generation gaps going on and lots of good conflict between the old country and the new.

I'm reading Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides and Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. I'm reading Uglies with my daughter we decided to start doing some shared reads.

Plus I'm also working on a couple of non-fiction Why Do I Love These People by Po Bronson. I might end up putting this aside for awhile I'm just not in the mood for it. Then Start Where You Are by Pema Chodron

My life is a literary wasteland. The few books I have right now that I haven't read before, I couldn't get into. In despair I am rereading "Anne of Green Gables."

I'm really like it too. Just love the characters. Every now and then the author goes off on side notes and I'm anxious to get back to the action!
