Hi everyone,

I was hoping someone could help me I have run out of books LOL I need help finding a new author.
I like to find a good author and enjoy the ride so to speak lol.

I started with Dean Koontz I have read/own most all of his books (just missing some of his reprints) and LOVE them esp the ones he has written in the last 10 years. He is my all time fav author.

I also own and have read all of John Saul's books I started reading his books and liked the fact that you never knew who would live and who would die but I found they all started to have the same "feel" about them and altho I like his books I don't personally feel they stand up to Koontz (just my opinion any Saul fans please don't take it personal).

I am also a fan of V.C.Andrews (I LOVE to read a good series)

I used to read King but kind of got away from his books I liked the older ones like "The Stand" ect but never really got into his newer works (maybe I should try him again hmmm?)

And as of this past Dec I turned to a new type of story and just Loved it, I have read and LOVE all of the first 6 books in the Harry Potter series (DH bought me books 1-6 for christmas) I can't wait for book 7 altho I really don't want the series to end :O( . Is there another series like this one out there ?

I am the type of person who likes to find a good author and pretty much read everything they have ever written but now I'm at a loss as to where to turn I don't know alot of people who enjoy my taste in books so I have a hard time getting ideas.

Anyway this is the type of books/Authors I like so any ideas on new authors/books for me to turn to would be great.

Thanks for any help I can get.

Welcome Krista! If you are looking for books you have come to the right place! I must admit I have not read many of the authors you mentioned- except Harry Potter:) I used to read V.C. Andrews a lot but haven't in many years.

Some suggestions for you though-
Christopher Pike has written lots of YA books that I really enjoyed- here are his many titles:

Madeline L'Engle's "Wrinkle in Time" if you enjoyed Harry Potter you might enjoy her and there are more books to this "series" if you like this one.

Then there is my favorite writer: Barbara Michaels. She does a lot of supernatural so you might enjoy her.

Hope these will get you started but believe me there will be more to come from others. Please stop in and let us know what you choose and we love our visitors to become regulars:)

You may want to try Stephen King again. I just finished reading Everything's Eventual(yesterday, in fact) and I thought that was an excellent book. It's a book of short stories. Also, have you read any of The Dark Tower series? I haven't, but you said you like series' maybe you should try that one. Also King has a new book(don't know if its out or not yet) called Cell, looks pretty good. Thats about all from me, I guess. Good luck, I'm sure you'll find something to suit your taste!

I recently started reading Harlan Coben. I just love his books. Very well written and gripping.

If you liked the Stand, you should read King's new book "The Cell". It has his old feel to it and actually reminds you quite a bit of the Stand. I'm almost done with it and its fantstic.

I thought of Barbara Michaels too. And I read the new Stephen King - "The Cell" & it was much more like his old books. Yeah! If you enjoy fantasy, you might try Neil Gaiman. He doesn't write series, but he's very good. I also enjoyed the Terry Brooks "Magic Kingdom" series. They're fantasy with humor. I read his Shanarra series many years ago - he's added several more books to that series since then. They're more the "Lord of the Rings" type fantasy. You have read those books, haven't you? Right now, I'm reading the first of the C.S. Lewis "Narnia" series. You might enjoy those. Do you like vampires? There are several good vampire series - some with more humor than others. Charlaine Harris, Kim Harrison, Laurel K. Hamilton & Mary Janice Davidson are some of the authors that come to mind. Come on back whenever you need ideas - everyone here will keep your TBR list going, if not overflowing

Hi Krista,

My hubby reads the Potter books and he recommends Anne McCaffery's Dragon Riders of Pern and possibly the J.R.R. Tolkien Lord of the Ring series. Another author's name he just called out is Christopher Paolini. He has two books so far.

Considering the other authors, it appears you prefer thrillers and can stand a little blood and gore? Minette Walters is British but one of the best writers in the world. Another you may like is Mo Hayder. You can look these all up on www.bookfinder.com.

I read three of Lisa Gardner's latest books and was very (nicely) surprised. They swept by at a rapid pace and were pretty much suspense or thriller types. The three were standalones but there were characters in one book who reappeared in another book but as minor characters.

Of course there is always the "Prey" series by John Sandford. By another name he received a Pulitizer Prize.

Seems to me Andrews and Saul touch on the fantasy or edge. I have tried them but not quite what I like. Tastes do change. I started pleasure/novel reading Agatha Christie!

Hope this helps!
Harriet
