Oh wow! Has anyone read this?? Its such a quick read, but very powerful. I have never read an Elizabeth Berg novel before and if they are all like this one, I am in for a treat.

Elizabeth Berg is one of my favorite authors. I've read almost all of her stuff. I really like her prose style.

She has another book coming out in April. It's called _We Are All Welcome Here : A Novel. It's already been reviewed in PW and Booklist. Time to put on the those holds for those of you who are lucky enough to put holds on books that your library has on order.

Wasn't this a wonderful book kel??? I loved it too. It's one of those books that stick with you.

All of Berg's books are just as good. She is one of my favorite authors. You should definitely check out more of her works.

Yes! It was good! I returned it the library today and I am very tempted to go buy my own copy. It seems like one of those books that I will want to go back to after awhile.

Glad you liked it! I love her books although some of her newer ones were not on the same par but still I love her writing. I think I have read all of her books and Joy School I believe is one that has a repeat character in it so you might check the author site and get a list of her books and pub dates to read together. k

Hi Kel ~

While I was at the library today I found out that they are hosting a book discussion for The Art Of Mending the first week of March! Oh, i am so there!!!

*vbg* Thanks for sharing that bit of Book Fairy magic !

About a year ago, most of the board fell head over pages for Elizabeth Berg ... based on ABC'r's recommendations.

One of her books, The Year of Pleasures, was a group read choice here.

If you'd like, you can type in Elizabeth Berg into the 'find msgs about' box (also Eliz. Berg or Year of Pleasures) to see previous discussions.

Feel free to resurrect any of those threads.

We read "Year of Pleasures" last year here for a group read and I fell in love with her also. I bought on eo fher books but haven't gotten to it yet. It is definitely on the top of my TBR lists though.

The others here filled me in on Elizabeth Berg, and I think I've read all of her books now, she's terrific. I pass them along to my best friend when I'm done with them! Another one you might like is Barbara Delinsky, BUT be sure to check the original publication date of the titles you look at - anything before about 1990 and they just were nowhere near as good, and make sure it hasn't been "re-issued". With lots of the popular writers nowdays they re-issue an older book they wrote 15 years ago, occasionally they even list a NEW pen name, as opposed to the pen name that author might have used many years ago when they wrote a book. Frankly, I think that stinks, but bottom line is it's up to us as the reader to check those things in the front of the book or by doing a bit of research. I've read sooooo many nowdays, I try to keep a list of the titles I HAVE read, I've "re-bought" the same books several times now.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have read one or two Delinsky novels a long time ago I think.

Hi Kel,

I can't believe there are so many people on this board who are getting acquainted with Elizabeth Berg's writing and loving it!
