Book-a-holic Meeting needed

Is your TBR pile getting any smaller? I know mine isn't. I know I need this meeting- just a little support to know that I am not the only one with a pile that could fit in a small closet- well okay maybe a bigger room. Just tell me that I'm not alone. I just need a quiet corner with a comfy chair and good lighting. That's all. Then I just need at least a week to get me started. All I can think of is that poor princess trying to make gold out of straw. yeah, I'm rambling. It's the end of Febraury and I've already listed at least a dozen books that I'd like to read this year. Of course I still have those shelves that have been supporting a good number of un-read books.

Any one else need some support???

For those of you joining us for the first time- this is where we share our stories of books and the pursuit of books to the point of obsession. Everyone should have a meeting to go to:)

I'm a book-a-holic and I love me.

I still have books trickling in from PBS. I do plan on picking up The Rock Orchard after the two books I'm reading now. It's one that's been on the shelf neglected far to long.

Also, ordered a couple of copies of Godless by Pete Hautman from Amazon. There the next book I plan to read with my DD. We are trying to do a shared read a month. Plus I got her the upcoming Haddix book Among the Free for her for her birthday.

I'm thinking of going to PBS and getting the sequel to the book Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt that I'm reading now. Another shared read with my DD.

Just so hard to stop all the incoming books.

Oh yes, I'm Liz & I'm a bookaholic. I have 4-5 more holds waiting for me at the library tonight & I just requested 3-4 more. I keep having to suspend my holds because so many are coming in at once. And there are further books in series that I've started & want to read more of, but I keep having all these other books I just have to read too. And I've been buying more books lately too. But of course the library books, espceially the 7-day loan ones, take precedence. Eek! But I do love all these new books/authors I'm discovering.

Okay, I swore that I wasn't going to buy any more books until I got my TBR list under control. What can I say, I'm weak. I went to Target today for my weekly diaper trip (two in diapers gets expensive!) and of course had to stop by the book section. Well, Deception Point was only $5.95 and 25% off and Tuesdays with Morrie was the same price, so how could I pass them up? What can I say, I'm weak. My list on Amazon.com is also growing. As I get more recommendations, my list gets longer and longer. My husband says it's a good thing I'm going back to work in 2 weeks. With my book buying binges, we need the extra money. :)

Hi, I'm Celeste and I'm a book-a-holic! (And I love me!) Yes, I've recently bought more books. I had't had a good book going for a week or so and I just couldn't settle on one. So I finally dug an old Nora Roberts out of the TBR pile and got started. Then yesterday I had the day off and decided to go downtown to a bookstore I don't get to very often. We have a really large, independent bookstore downtown and I love to go there. I don't get downtown too often, but I really had an urge to go. I ended up with three new books and the latest 'Oprah' magazine.

I'm going to rationalize here. I don't go out a lot, I don't spend a lot on clothes or frivolous things. I consider books an investment in my sanity and peace of mind. I just need to have books around me. They calm and reguvenate me.

Yes, hugs are needed to ease the stress of picking up and putting down one book after another deciding what to read next. Rolling eyes and tapping fingers and fidgety feet. Egad! I promised myself to ease back on the library load to catch up on personal books. Nyet! Not only are there some new mysteries in the pile (Leonard Chang, Robert B. Parker) there are some choice non-fiction as well. Stuart Kaminsky's book of interviews with top mystery writers. He's friends with a number of well-know authors so was able to visit and have a photographer accompany him on his visits to their homes. There's a new book out about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake; this April will make 100 years. I snagged a biography about a famous English courtesan of the late 18th-early 19th century that's begging to be read. Whew...it'll get done...

I'm a bookaholic and I love me.

After holding off getting anything new for several weeks, my TBR shelves are thinning out.

I just got back from the library and bought 3 new books that I didn't need but for 25 cents for pk and 50 cents for hc, who can resist?
