Hi and Welcome to the board. It sounds like from your introduction in the Roll Call that you do keep yourself very busy with a whole lot of different crafts. For differently displaying ideas for completed works, I am not really sure of any myself since I usually just have stuff framed when I complete them but you sound like you have some really inventive ideas for displaying items. Do you have any particular projects that you are working right now? I am working on a few different things at the same time. I chrismas stocking for my nephew, a dinosaur picture for my other nephew and a couple other bigger projects too. Welcome again and hope to see you often.

Peach Blossom, I would like to add my greetings! It is good to have you with us. Sounds like you are a true needlewoman at heart. It is fun to work with different types of needle crafts from time to time. Right now I am pretty much exclusively cross-stitching, but I am always ready to try something else if the right project or design comes along!

Other than pillows, bell-pulls, or wall hangings, I don't have much in the way of new display ideas to offer you. Some designs can be used for towels, or placemats, or even tablecloths. I have seen some lovely quilts made up from different cross stitch designs, but those have been community efforts like the ones for Love Quilts.

Anyway, we are glad to have you here. We would love to hear more about what you are working on, and feel free to jump in anywhere. Our Monday goals thread is kind of a fun way to keep ourselves centered on the stitching (or anything else!) that we hope to accomplish.

Happy Stitching!

Becky

Welcome Peach Blossom, Always wonderful to greet a new poster and lots more fun for me cause it is nice to see another Canadian Posting on the board-I live in Quebec.

Not sure what other ways you could finish your work. I fram some, make some into pillows and make wall hangings out of others.

Hope you come back and post often

Beth

PeachBlossom and welcome! I can't seem to find your original post (help, please, Becky or Beth?). But I'll extrapolate a little from the posts of others. Some other ideas - I'm not sure how big your designs are - you can put smaller designs on Mason jar lids and put cookie mixes, etc. in them and give them as gifts. You can make nice covers for photo-albums with bigger designs (or even a collage of small designs) - think scrapbooking with fabric, glue and cardboard. So another couple of ideas for you. I, too, have several projects going at once. I keep the simpler projects ready to go during the day when the kids are up and needing attention and the bigger projects for in the evening when kids are in bed and DH and I are kickin' back. So that keeps me pretty busy! (Currently with 6 projects!). Welcome!

Hi Shawna! The new board format strikes again? We are replying to her post under the roll call post. http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-hgstitchery&msg=1392.18

I find it helpful to find new posts if I log into the board in the folder view. All threads that have a new post that you haven't read will be marked with a little dot on the far right side. Under the `replies' column it will also say something like "1 new of 3". If you click on that thread you will be automatically taken to the first post under that thread that you have NOT read. And threads that have new posts also come to the top of the folder. HTH!

HUGS!

Becky

Hi Peach Blossem...

I am signed up to take some tatting lessons in the fall - can't wait to start!! I've already got a tn of supplies (plus all my great-grams old shuttles) but really need to have someone "show" me vs. following a booklet with pictures.

If you are inspired here's a bunch of links to bookmark for the future when you learn how...

Stacey - So how's the weather in Toronto?? We *finally* got rid of the last spring snow storms here in Edmonton - hopefully I can start those bedding plants soon!

Stacey,

The weather is an atypical spring. It alternates between pouring rain with 8 C temperatures to bright sunshine and 18 C. But no snow! I've got the tomato plants in so I'm hoping they'll survive. Right now I'm more worried about the new SARS cases in Toronto, but that's another topic. And let us not forget Mad Cow as I'm sure Albertans and Canadians everywhere are concerned about. Hope everything turns out all right!

Thanks for the warm welcome! And for the tatting links!
