I finally used the SideWinder I bought on a sale a while back. I've found that quilting uses up bobbin thread quickly, so was forced to plug in the new gadget. It works great! With arrows to show the path the thread takes, it was easy.

Glad to hear it. I've not seen many reviews on bobbin winders but the ones I hve found have been pretty positive.

Only one con I could find: at about.com (http://sewing.about.com/od/sewingmachineindex/gr/sidewinder.htm) it says it is easy to overfill the bobbin. Did you find that to be so?

And I was wondering ---a re there any brand restrictions with this machine? Will it wind for every sewing machine out there or are there limitation?

This is a stand alone little machine, takes whatever bobbin you have.

Yes, I did overwind one. I forgot to push the spring loaded tab against the bobbin before winding. It works just like the sensor on my sewing machine winding parts.
