Several of my new books mention using contact paper that has removable paper liner, as opposed to the kind that sticks to itself. I can't find any locally. Am wondering if there is a product made for quilters that does the same thing.

That's a new one on me but I found this:

http://books.google.com/books?id=aotAXAOZScIC&pg=PA265&lpg=PA265&dq=use+of+contact+paper+in+quilting&source=bl&ots=tXWb6aBhHN&sig=5T0BdcTh-pFVHZkqwHIraUIgEyk&hl=en&ei=HVpgS_qmLpTM8Qar89GRDA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CBoQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=use%20of%20contact%20paper%20in%20quilting&f=false

so I suppose it's so...

Sort of a heavier duty version of freezer paper without having to iron on the paper! Apparently you can use Glad press-and-seal for the same thing!

I'm guessing that it's simply the same stuff you buy to line shelves...

From what this google book page implies, it's intended for use in putting together machine quilting designs on tops without having to mark the quilt (apply the shape, stitch around it, remove the shape and stick it on someplace else...) but I suppose it would also work the same way for cutting, like freezer paper is often used.

I sent this earlier, but I'll bet I hit "cancel" - LOL

This article really goes into how to use it -

Glad I'm not the only one around here that hits that darned cancel button by mistake!

Or forgets to hit the final post button! If only I had a nickle for every time I did THAT!

I have the same problem on Facebook - I type something then forget to hit the SHARE button. Have also learned that my comments to someone else on FB take a while to show. Guess it has to run through their censors -LOL.
