Scarf question

I saw a post on another website and I thought it was good. It was a scarf knitted on size 17 needles in stockinit stitch(knit every row no purling) with worsted weight yarn. She also said that it took her two skeins. Sounds good so far, not to mention it looked nice.

BUT, should I used two strands on the same color at the same time to give it bulk or one at a time and the second for added length? I am having a really hard time posting to that sight so I thought I would ask you guys here and see what you think. Also size 17 knitting needles how mant stitches should I cast on and should I use 10" or (I think ) 14" needles?

Thanks for any input you may have,
Melanie

Hmmm...if its only single crochet and regular worsted weight yarn, I would suggest a size H hook (8 I think)...that would make it tight but not too tight.
