Complete newbie here. I did a little crocheting as a kid (read: dishcloths), but I've never knitted before. I have this overly ambitious goal of learning to knit well enough that I can make some booties for my baby who is due in May. So far I am still on the sample squares. Just taught myself purling the other day. (knittinghelp.com is awesome! thanks for the link.)
I have lots of questions. I hope you all have lots of patience. ;)
1. If my baby is born in May, is it stupid to make wool booties? I don't want him/her to overheat, but I want good quality yarn which will last a looong time. What type of yarn should I be looking for? What brands are good? Favorite online store?
2. I have a basic starter kit with two pair of metal single-point needles, 8 and 6. What other kinds of needles should I get? I'm thinking I need a pair of circular needles, bamboo, with a pretty long cord so I can make tiny circular things. Maybe some cable needles too. Does anybody have a favorite online store? How about favorite brands of needles?
