My husband is in a guard reserve. He has a friend, who's wife is expecting. I don't know all the particulars, just that she is expecting. He wants me to make a baby blanket in ARMY colors. I dont know how this wife will accept the colors. I dont mind at all making the blanket. I just have qualms about the colors. What would you do?

I don't know how she would take a baby blanket in black and gold (yellow?). I guess if they were having a boy maybe, but she may not be all that into the Army. lol

Personally, I'd show the star afghan to your DH. It's patriotic and I think they would like it. Here is a link to the pattern. http://www.angelfire.com/va3/heartfeltangels/littlestarafghan.html

There is a variegated yarn out called "camoflage" in green shades that may work.

I agree. I like the red white and blue idea too. I have already copied the pattern. I am going to show it to dh and see what are

I like the idea of red, white and blue, too. I'm biased though because I hate the color green.LOL

You could also do it in a yellow ombre. That would look pretty.

I think something more patriotic and less camouflage is a good compromise. I'm sure the lady would appreciate it that way too. I'm interested in hearing what your husband's thoughts are about it.

Maybe do the blanket in Arm colors as requested, then in addition knit a small, easy-to-finish baby item like a hat in more baby-oriented colors?

Have fun with it, glad DH liked the pattern. :) My DH wants to keep the star I made lol. I told him he needs to give me a baby first! ;-)

Karen,

I can't wait to see the finished blanket. The new family will love it no matter what because it was handmade from the heart. Ahhhh... Don't forget to post pictures when you are done.
