Saw this on the Animal Rights board.

Is this something you think you could see yourself doing?

I've always wondered if that could be done; very interesting! We do have one long haired cat...Our dog is short haired, though, so no sweaters from her, LOL.

I have golden retrievers, but I can't imagine using their hair to make yarn. I do clean up quite a bit of it though and could fill a pillow case very quickly! LOL!

I can relate. I have four of them! I have the mama, daddy, son and daughter. Daddy, Mama, Daughter are very thick. The son isn't! Daddy isn't doing so well. :(

Oh no, I'm so sorry. How old is he? Ellie is 6 1/2.

Ellie is beautiful. I love red! River is 13. Stormy is almost 6 and the puppies Dakota & Missy are 2. They are a fun bunch! :)

Edited to put an age for Stormy. LOL!

An old beau of mine had a husky & I was around in the springtime when the dog's undercoat was coming off in clumps.. I had no doubt that what he shed could be spun, but I don't spin, and I would rather not have a pet with that much "waste product"

We get plenty of hair from Kitty Kitty...but it would take forever to get enough to spin it into yarn.

Interesting and kind of weird idea. lol

My long haired border collie has plenty of undercoat...but I can't see paying that much for a scarf. Guess it would be a good way to remember her.

I saw a site that did that, and they claimed that a dog's undercoat was MUCH warmer than wool and recommended not trying for a full sweater, but something more like a scarf or mittens.
