can anyone help me figure out how to do this stitch? I made this scarf about 10 years ago. I have tried to figure it out, but I have totally forgotten how to do it. It looks like six pointed stars, or six pointed snowflakes all hooked together. thanks, Wanda

wow, that is beautiful! I'm looking through my books and stitch guides, I hope I can find it. I'll give a couple a test drive and see what I come up with. I'm sorry if it takes me a bit, I'm under the weather today with a nasty cold. :(

Anyone else see this beautiful stitch before?

after looking at the video, I think this is the straight version of the stitch:

http://crochet.about.com/library/blstar_stitch.htm

and to do the 2nd row you go here:

http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa112205.htm

I'm thinking you'll have to play with it to see how it works out, a HD row instead of the SC row may work better and look better.

Thanks for your help Amanda!

Thats a very pretty stitch & scarf. Was it hard? I'm teaching myself how to knit & I always did a bit of crocheting. I hope you find the stitch or someone here does.

I have a friend who keeps a book on everything she makes, what size needle/hook, what kind of yarn, how much the project took, a picture of it, along w/the pattern. It comes in handy for times like this.

wow that's impressive! I wish I would have thought to make a book like that. I try my best to at least take pictures, but I should document my works better. I guess I don't think about doing it since I didn't create the pattern myself.

AHA!!! Success at last! Someone just sent me a link:

http://leisureartslibrary.com/cart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=0&idproduct=492

I really think this is it. The snowflake stitch by leisure arts. It's was orginally published sometime in the 70s in leaflet #59. Ladies, this is too good of a stitch to let it become lost. It is wonderfully puffy and has some give to it.

I still can't remember how to do it. So I am going to order this and re-learn. I'll let you all know how it turns out.
