I'm making a scarf and I want to make it shorter than it is on the pattern. It says that you can make it any length as long as it is a multiple of 4+3 stitches.I don't know what that means. Please help! Thanks, Robin

Algebra. Apparently what you've got is a 4 row repeating pattern with a 3-row "border" pattern. It should be apparent from the instructions where you need to stop.

So the possible number of rows would be in the series 7, 11, 15, 19, 23, 27, etc.

To chain for the stitch pattern you would chain a number that is divisible by 4 then add 3 more ie...120+3=123 chains.
