Changing colors...

I'm making a scarf for my DD that is striped, 2 colors. How do you change colors? I know I shouldn't be tying knots, but I feel that it will be more secure when laundered if I do.

Thanks.

I am not much of a knitter, but when crocheting, when I pull up the stitch on the hook, the next thing I do is pull thru the new color, the last section of the stitch I want to change color on. Then I weave the ends in as I go along to finish it up. I might weave in about half a row. It just depends on what I am working on.

I've always changed colors at the end of the row, so when starting the new row I just do the first yarn over with the new color, leaving a long tail. You can then weave in the end, or sometimes I'll do a border of single crochet around the edge to make sure they wont come unravelled.

HTH!
