help finding pattern?

I'm desperately trying to find a (knitting) pattern for a baby blanket with zoo/safari animals on it. (Zebras, elephants, lions, etc)

I was origianlly envisioning a patchwork blanket with a variety of animals squares and solid and/or striped squares. But I'd also be open to a solid blanket with an animal pattern. I can't find ANYTHING and I'm going crazy.

Does anyone have a pattern like this or know of a web site or book that might? I've looked through dozens of books and googled until my eyes have gone crossed. ;-)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome Annie!

I found a few, I hope you can use them. Basically I was looking for animal graphs/charts that you could just knit instead of bead or needle point.

No idea what it looks like, but this book supposedly has a "Safari Parade" blanket pattern.

Thanks so much for the help, ladies.

The safari parade blanket is awesome! (I found a finished photo of it here -- http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/879/590/1600/nell%20008.jpg ). I definitely want to make it, but there's no way I can get it done before Christmas, so I'm going to just work on it at my own pace and it'll be done when it's done. It might wind up being a first birthday present rather than a first Christmas present...but that's okay!

In the meantime, I found this pattern in a book. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d111/unc_annie/knitting/elephantblanket.jpg

I'm going to modify it a bit -- I'm going to changed the striped border to a single cream-colored stripe and make the baby elephant cream also. But it's sweet and easy, so I can definitely get it done for Christmas.

I'll pop back in and post finished photos when I'm done. :)

Thanks again!

Hi, here's a web-site with some great knitted dishcloth patterns. They're pretty much square and can be used as afghan squares. I love this site because I'm a newbie knitter and most of the patterns are just knit, purl. There's a great variety of patterns like letters, numbers, states and holiday symbols.

Thanks for the link! There are lots of great patterns on there. I love the flag afghan made of squares of states -- what a great idea!

I'll definitely bookmark that site and come back to it next time I'm thinking about doing a patchwork blanket.
