Mr. Coffee with "gold tone" filters

Does anybody know anything about these? I'm looking for a coffee maker that makes as little a 2 cups & doesn't use a paper filter. I have a thing that makes 1 cup. Now I need 2. I found a Mr. Coffee that says it uses a "permanent" gold tone filter. Does that mean it doesn't need a paper filter? It looked like it shouldn't need one, but there was a paper one in the display model. Of course, this was at a K-Mart, so maybe whoever set it up doesn't know it doesn't need one.

Did you ask at Kmart?
Also maybe look on a Mr. Coffee website to see what they offer.
Hope you find what you need .. let us know :)

Our friend has a larger one with gold filter and doesn't use a filter.... I don't know whether he is satisfied with it or not....

my only concern would be whether the coffee has an acidic taste to it...????

Do you mean from the metal? Eek! Hopefully that's not the case.

Cool! I think I just found myself a coffeepot. Since they replaced our drip coffeemaker at work w/a coffee vending machine (yuk!) I've been trying to figure out the best way to bring my own. I bought a thermos & have been using my 1-cup maker, but now I want to be able to bring 2 cups to work. And one reason I never bought a drip coffeemaker is that, ecologically, I can't bring myself to use disposable paper filters. So I was hoping to find something else. I didn't know these existed. I saw in K-Mart that they sell those gold filters for any drip coffeemaker. Nice idea. It beats running out of filters, too. I haven't seen the ones you have.

but I am thinking that used coffee filters with grounds are biodgradeable so you don't

I looked up the web site and this is what it says:

Gold Tone filters are made of stainless steel, and treated so as not to transfer metallic tastes. You get the most flavor from the coffee, when using these filters, and usually a few of the finer grounds as well. Gentle care will help these filters last for years; dispose of spent grounds in garbage (or mulch pile), wash with sudsy water or in the top rack of your dishwasher. For the appropriate fit, match the Gold Tone filter to the shape of your filter cone.

Sounds like a good idea to me,
what do you think?

Where I live, food trash goes in w/the other trash. :o( I don't garden, so I don't compost. This horrifies my friend Nancy.
