Anybody giving up anything for Lent?

I've never done it before, partly because I'm not Christian. But they were talking a lot about it on the radio this AM, & I came up w/an idea. I'm going to stop biting & tearing my cuticles. Ouch! I had been thinking about coming on here & asking if anybody had any advice about how to do it. I broke the habit of tearing my fingernails years ago by having an emery board EVERYwhere. Now I file instead of tear. :o) But my cuticles look awful, hurt & sometimes bleed. So I decided to "Just DO It." And now that I've told somebody, ya'll will hold me to it. ;o) Six or 7 weeks is the right amount of time to break a habit, so Lent seemed like a good chance.
Anybody else?
P.S. I forgot to say Happy Fasnaught Day yesterday (the PA Dutch version of Fat Tuesday). LOL. Fasnaughts are sort of like donuts, but not nearly as good. You eat them on Fasnaught Day.

No I won't be giving anything up for lent.
However I can sadly relate to your cuticles myself ::blush::
For me it's more out of stress ::gasp::
A good thing to not do & give up I think.
Now that we know, you've publicly admitted
You'll have to keep us posted please.
Same to you ..
Happy Fasnaught Day

Well, I guess I won't be giving up donuts, because after reading your post that's all I can think about! Krispie Kreme for lunch!

The cream sounds like a good idea. Hope it's not expensive, b/c I'll have to do like I did w/the emery boards--have one in every room & every purse, desk, etc. LOL. I'll look for it.
Or maybe it would be cheaper to ask somebody to marry me, get a ring, then break up after Lent. ;o)

Katz,
Fresh, hot, Krispie kremes....yum! They're irresistable! Is 'Maple Donut' a brand? We don't have that here, that I know of. I do, however, love maple frosting on donuts, long john's, maple fried cinnamon (or some call them 'persians'). I worked at a bakery in while I was in H.S. Good thing I don't now!
Gosh, I'm hungry!
