Have you ever taken lessons?

Which instrument can you play (doesn't matter how well)

Which would you like to learn how to play?

Are any of your children learning to play an instrument?

Do your parents play an instrument?

It was neat, we could hardly ever go to a restaurant if there was a pianist because the minute he would take his break, my dad would go start playing... of course everyone knew him and loved it,,, but still! My dad and I used to play honky tonk or blues together...it was fun.

The dulcimer is most popular in folk styles of music, but can be heard any many other styles as well. One of the main characteristics that set the dulcimer apart from other instruments is the tuning and scale. The dulcimer is a diatonic instrument. This means it is only capable of producing the 7 tones of the major scale. This has a good and bad side. The good side is that there are not really wrong notes on a dulcimer. Once tuned to the key you want to play in, every note on the dulcimer sounds good. The down side is that you can only play in one key without retuning the dulcimer.
