i love black olives....i'm so glad the boys don't so i don't have to share them!! i can eat the whole canful. and the ones on the olive tray at the restaurant.

you can keep the green ones...way too salty for me.

Only one of my kids do as well.

yes the green olives can get salty, just soak them in water overnight.... next morning drain well, add some olive oil, whatever herbs you like ( rosemary, oregano, a bay leaf etc), a squeeze of lemon juice ( acts as preservative), put back in the jar and store in the fridge.

love black olives, don't care for green, dh loves black, ds would eat black ones on a pizza but not just pop one in his mouth.

When I was little, my mom took a pic of me sitting indian-style under the kitchen table with a gallon jar of black olives between my legs. My lil hand was deep inside the jar and it was more than HALF GONE!
It took years before I could stand the taste of any olive and at that it had to be cooked.

That all changed while I was living in France and had the best olives ever, can you believe that it is BLACK???? LOL --who knew?

Still only like some though..

Oh yes, they marinate the black olives in France too.
