how are you feeling lately..... are you happy that you had the OP? Did it help /solve the problem entirely?   (I hope so)

At this point, I wish I hadn't done it. Before the surgery, I took 3 pills a day, & they completely controlled my heartburn. I never got heartburn. I only had the surg so I could stop taking the pills. But now, I get heartburn. :( Even while I was still taking the 3 pills (I continued them for more than a month after the op), I was getting heartburn. The only good news is that insofar as allowing me to stop taking the pills, it worked. I didn't get any worse when I stopped them. And the heartburn I get now is nowhere NEAR as bad as it would have been pre-op w/o the pills. I had told the surgeon about the heartburn, & it was a mystery to him. But at my last appt., I mistakenly thought it had stopped. I have another appt. next week, so I'll see what he says. I don't know whether there's any test he can do, or anything else.

Thanks for asking. :)

It does seem as if it's related to eating high-fat foods. But why do I get heartburn now when I didn't before? They didn't tell me to expect any problems w/heartburn. They said

Well, the doc is still mystified. According to all the data, I should have had excellent results. So we're scheduling 2 tests--an upper GI, & the shove-the-tube-up-your-nose-and-down-your-throat manometry again. Yippee! I think he may be considering another surgery. Ack! I'm not sure I want to do any more.
