My Grampa used to take me to Barn square-dances, in Canada, starting when I was 7- up to about 18, boy, he was a powerful dancer! When I was young, he used to swing me aroound so fast my feet would be off the floor ! lol ! He also taught me to do the Polka- wow, if you did'nt "spot" something every time he twirled you, you would get so dizzy- twirling & twirling-- yikees! I get dizzy thinking about it !
Every summer we were off to nova Scotia- have some great memories!
You sound like my kinda gal!
Polkas at weddings were our favorite passtime!
Especially when Mom's cousins (two sisters) would
dance together, all dressed up in their fine dresses and heels!
Boy could they kick up their heels!
Fun memories!
Ha
Hugs
Blowing kisses in the wind!
yes, yes, yes !!! That was my Mom & her sister exactly!! At weddings all dolled up & they would do the jitter-bug, polka, and man could they dance together--it would'nt be a wedding if those two did'nt get up & burn up the hardwood ! So sad that they both died so young & within 6 months of each other!
But still such good fun memories & I have a bunch of photo's of them dancing- some a a blur cause they were twirling so fast !!! awww I miss them !
