I love my city in the summer!

There's so much cool stuff going on downtown this summer. Even more than previous years. There are house & garden tours, about 3 more festivals, free movies in 3 different outdoor locations all summer, several free concerts every week in many locations.

In July, there will be a rock-a-thon. There's a theme this year where various artists created neat rocking chairs for display & silent auction. Then one Saturday in July, we're going to try to break the world record for the most people rocking in rocking chairs outdoors. LOL. That will be fun. For last year's theme, artists created neat versions of purple martin bird houses like the one in the famous scene in the movie Witness, which was filmed here. There was a whole thing around here last year celebrating the 20th anniversary of the movie. Who here has seen it? Great movie!

There are art shows, & First Friday every month, & tons of free kids' activities. Every day, at various of the city parks, there's an all-day free program for kids, including free lunch. This is great because, as a city, of course, we have a lot of struggling families.

Free July 4 fireworks. Sunday there was a big block party and a big professional international bike race that comes here every year, the Temptations are playing for free next Saturday, all kinds of activities at County Park, free Shakespeare in the park in July.

LOTS of VERY cool stuff! So who wants to move in with me for the summer?! ;o)

No. Generally, the only things that Nancy comes down for are the folk fest in May, & any big concerts. I go to the downtown stuff alone or with Zelda.
