Yikes! I have a dilemma!
Have you ever heard of the prayer "God, grant me the serenity, to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference. ".
I have always loved this prayer and find it to be very motivational and encouraging in life and life’s ups & downs. I have a wedding to go to on Friday night for my cousin. He and his bride to be are very religious. I bought them a sign with that prayer on it, it's a pretty sign with country style cranberries around the wording. I also got them a centerpiece for their table that matches the sign...
My dilemma...I was talking with my sister this morning about the wedding and gifts, I told her what my gift was and she told me that the serenity prayer is for AA. I am so bummed. I don't know if I should give them something else now or stick with my original thought.
Do you associate that prayer with AA (Alcoholic Anonymous) ?
Here is the description of the gifts. I'd really love to know your thoughts!
Thanks!
Johanna

While I know that this prayer is said by AA, and all the "A" members (OA, NA, etc), I don't think it is theirs alone and don't associate it with the "Anonymous" groups.

Thanks Ann!
I'm so glad that you think it is a nice gift and won't be found offensive.
I appreciate your words.
Thanks!

Actually I knew that it was associated with AA but, an this is a big but... it's only because I watch desperate Housewives, and last week they had an episode where Bree is at a meeting and led the group in that prayer.
johanna,
it is very pretty. i bet your cousin will like it :O)
so what if AA uses that as a motto...alot of people do.
hope it is a lovely wedding

Thanks for asking.
I don't know. They didn't open gifts at the wedding.
I'll have to wait for the thank you card.
