Words to live by?

Johanna's post about the Serenity Prayer got me wondering if anyone else has a phrase or poem or prayer they love and/or live by.
I have one on a plaque on my kitchen wall that I do live by it's from Henry David Thoreau and goes:
Why should we be in such desperate haste to succeed, and in such desperate enterprises?
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away.
Another phrase I sometimes repeat to myself when I'm feeling intimidated is from The Desiderata (which I also love in its entirety) and goes:
You are a child of the Universe . . . you have a right to be here.
So, I was wondering, do you have a poem or saying you find yourself repeating or turning to as a guide for your life? Do you have it on a wall, or just kept in your head?
(and, rereading this post, I think it is clear I was a teen in the 60's, LOL!)

Sorry to crack up on a serious post, but Desiderata??! LOL. You ARE a child of the 60s.
I don't have anything quite like that, but I have a thing I repeat often to my friend Zelda, who is dreadfully self-conscious, despite being 64 years old.
"When I was young, I worried about what people thought of me.
As I grew older, I worried less.
As I grew even older, I realized they'd never been thinking about me at all."
That sort of sums up how I live my life. LOL.

This quote has been hanging on the wall by the computer lately and I like it.
"I have not ceased being fearful, but I have ceased to let the fear control me.
PEACE
Dh and I like this one :
What Me Worry?
An old faithful one that we live by is ..
Treat others the way you want to be treated :)
a few that come to mind now and again:
be careful what you ask for...you just might get it
what goes around....comes around
success is getting what you want....happiness is wanting what you get~~ ingrid bergman
