Hi, Been MIA lately- kinda in a funk cause I got my pathology report back!!!!
The big right lobe tumor was not malignant, the left lobe had 4 cancer cells, so I thought since the whole thyroid was removed w/ the cancer cells within I was all set!!! I guess not! Now I have to go to an Endocrinologist & he will make the decision to have the radation or the iodine radation- the last one I would have to be in the hosp in isolation for 5 days- the nurses could only come in for 5 min every 4 hours with the whole isolation garb on- very depressing & crazy iodine free (which is almost everything) diet 2 weeks prior- to starve the cancer cells & then they will suck up the iodine when ingested & will glow "Hot" then can iradiated!
This would be all precautionary since they can not get all the thyroid tissue upon removal!
Dr increased my thyroid hormone meds- I have be on that level before they can test blood again, then see the Endo Dr- that is in November- 4 days before we go to Vegas. I feel this coming Holidays will be kinda sucky- hopefully not- but I am prepared!
So that is why I have been in a funk! I realize that I have finish what we started here with the surgery- but--- urghhhH!
