I got my hybrid!

Yea!! I picked it up Thursday evening. It's a very neat shade of red, w/dark gray interior. I've been quite intimidated by the technology so far, but I'm getting used to it. Not just the hybrid technology. I've never even had power windows or power door locks. They take some getting used to. Thursday night when I got home, I couldn't figure out how to unlock the back door to get my stuff out! ROFL. Then Friday, I drove all the way to work w/the intermittent wipers on, b/c I couldn't figure out how to turn them off. LOL.

The computer screen has all kinds of interesting (and not-so-interesting) info on it. Still getting used to that. One of the weirdest things is that there is no key. I keep the electronic thing in my purse, and just walk up to the car. It senses me coming, & when I put my hand on the handle it unlocks. Then it starts w/a pushbutton. The most fascinating thing is that when I push the button & start it up, there's complete silence. You don't hear a thing! Weird. If the dashboard didn't light up, you wouldn't know the car was on. Then in about 10 seconds, the gas engine kicks in. And when you stop at a red light, the gas engine goes off, & again, silence. It feels like you've stalled.

All the neighbor kids, & everybody at work, have been fascinated by it.

They gave me a full tank of gas, 11+ gallons. Can't wait to see how long it will be til I need gas. Love driving by that gas station every day. ;o)  But of course, I recently got a Hess Co. Visa card, which gives me an extra 5% back on all my gas purchases for the first 90 days, & I have 30 days left on that. LOL. Anybody need any gas I can buy for you on my card? ;o)

The night I bought it, I left the manual on the salesman's desk! I picked it up Friday, & spent some quality time with it this weekend. Went out & sat in the car & played aeround, setting radio stations, testing the locks, etc. I feel more confident now. LOL. But I didn't drive it at all this weekend. Took the old car to the car wash, so I ran my errands while I was out.

Yeah, the technology can be pretty baffling. LOL. Still having problems w/the radio that I can't figure out.

I can't wait to see the mileage, either. I'll check it the first time I get gas.

Congratulations on the new hybrid. Sounds exciting. Good luck learning how to operate everything. I know what you mean about the power windows. The first time I had them it took a couple of weeks to finally get it right.

Happy driving :)
