What'cha Reading?

I just finished a book by Douglas Kennedy, one of my favorite athors to date.  It was called A Special Relationship.    Briefly:  American war journalist marries British war journalist, moves to London when the dh is transferred back home, to have their child.  What a surprise she encounters as her pregnancy is cut short and she experiences extreme post natal depression.... This is a truly amazing book,,, kept, even me, rivoted to the couch reading until the end.....  there is a court scene, deception, intrigue, fun, sadness......  gee just everything.....  at one point I was so upset at the situation in the book (I won't let on) but I wanted to get up and scream "You lowlife!"     (Of course dh was reading his novel in the same room, so I didn't)

What are YOU reading this week or month ?

You liked Five People? I think there were several of us on the Book board that didn't, weren't there? I didn't like it. Not sure what I was expecting, but that sure wasn't it. I saw the Play Tuesdays w/Morrie & really liked it.

Did you see that somebody journaled Cheesemakers? Yippee! At last! Hope she records her release.

Frank McCourt wrote Angela's Ashes. I heard him speak. He's a great speaker. Very funny. And he seems to have lost a lot of his accent. I heard

I really liked the first part. But the second part wandered all over, literally & figuratively. Got into melodrama. It kept me interested bc I liked the characters, but I was kind of disappointed that it went that way. Went way beyond the "small town quirky characters" type of bok that I like.

Yes, I liked Five People very much. I liked that the man who thought his life meant nothing, realized that he had affected so many people in so many good ways. But maybe you'd have to feel a little bit like that man did to have it affect you the way it did me. It made me think about what 5 people I have met, or have yet to meet, and what interaction I'll have with them that will have a meaning I won't even know at the time.

I did see that someone journalled Cheesemakers! I hope it continues its travels.
