When I was young,we lived in the suburbs, so there
was a lotta houses to do our stuff!
We'd ring doorbells,
soap windows, and
just get silly in the dark
on Devil's Night!
Then on the real holiday,Halloween,
we'd use pillow cases for our bag
so they wouldn't tear and keep
going back home to empty our bag
and start all over again!
(Mom would sneak some of our stash
to pass out to trick or treaters)
At the end of the evening we'd
take inventory, eat until we were
sick and then try to make our stash
last as long as we could!
When my boys were young,we'd be the
first ones in the neighborhood out
trick or treating in their costumes,
I'd drive them to town and they
would do their thing and we'd
get home in time to see the
Halloween specials on tv.
Dad would stay home in case anyone
came out to our house, but not many did
if at all!
