And we think *WHAT do I Do with THat*

I asked this on one of my other boards, fun thread, LOL

Think back ..
Any gifts stand out over time that you would call  ..

What’s the worst gift you’ve ever received? Who gave it to you?
When? What did you do with it?  Still have it?

Let us know :)

Just for fun here are a few that others have received ..

it was a tangerine colored "marshmallow" ski jacket. you know the big puffy things of the 80's? all i wanted was a nice wool pea-coat. my exsil helped the ex pick it out. boy was she ever p*ssy when she found out i hated it. hey...i showed the coat i wanted seceral times. ex was mad because i would not apologize for hurting her feelings. i sort of did. i told her i was sorry she was hurt but i hated the jacket. it disappeared a few days later. i think he took it back to the store & kept the money. oh well...

funny thing is that i hardly ever say what i wanted for a gift.i loved surprises and i always got nice stuff.i was an odd one because if i needed a new iron or pans set and got it for a present i was happy!! that stuff never bothered me.

Oh wow on that coat Pat,
Know exactly what you mean about puffy marshmellow, LOL
Orange to boot ::gasp::
Wonder why she didn't take the hints .. not nice
Do you still have it?
Funny how usually we can be happy with our suprise gifts.
And when we do ask for something, hint .. it doesn't work put.
Hmm .. something not right about that :)

I'm pretty sure I've told this story here before, but we have a lot of new folks since last Christmas.

My mom was notorious for her weird gifts. One time many years ago she gave me a kleenex box cover. It was for the "boutique" kleenex--small vertical box. It was a plastic doll's head. White hair, a black velvet choker around her neck, & lots of makeup on the face. Yikes! About as un-me as you could possbly get! LOL. When one of my nephews was a teen, she gave him a radio hat--a baseball-style cap w/a built-in radio, complete w/antenna that stuck up. My family agrees that it was the *best* Mom gift ever! ;o) A few years ago, she gave me a ball of string. Purple. It came from a fair-trade store, that sells goods made by people in developing countries at fair prices, so they can earn a decent living. In that regard, it was cool. I support the fair-trade concept. But it was STRING! Her defense was "But it's GOOD string." For years, we repeated that--"But it's GOOD string." But the next year, she denied having given it to me. My mom was flaky & forgetful. LOL. We miss her funny gifts at Christmas now. And yes, I still have the string. I use it any time I have a need for string, & will be sad when I have to buy a new ball. LOL

Oh, sure. As I said, I use it any time I need string for anything. There are all kinds of utensils, tools & ornaments hanging around my house with purple string. :)

You didn't tell us the "theme" of the picture. Let me guess.....four dogs playing poker w/their visor hats on while drinking Budweiser? ROFLMAO!!!

Cute kitty and VERY nice cobra! BTW is your "Chinese" zodiac sign "the Snake?" Just curious since I'm a wood snake...read up on the "animal" of your Chinese zodiac sign and it describes you to a "T"!

bump!

One year when I was STILL a newlywed my sister (who has money) gave me a box of Weisman's chocolates (you know, the yellow box of "sorted" chocolates). When I opened the box I literally cried. I felt SO sad that she'd think of me as low as the box cost her (this was in 1983) about $3.99. To this day I cannot forget the gift. We no longer speak to each other as it's been over 10 years or so. She hurt my mother when she told her "Eeek you have Diabetes, that's a 'dirty' disease!" No one, and I mean no one! Talks to my mother like that!
