Getting them to sleep was never really hard for us...But its cause our local news station shows where santa is so we would always tell the kids if u dont go to sleep Santa wont stop here he'll just keep going and give ur gifts to someone else who went to bed like they were told...

And having family around wouldnt b so bad if my parents were here to spend it w us...They live in NC and I usually go up there the day after xmas but this yr I went for Thanksgiving...I loved it more when they lived here...

Christmas Eve has always been spent at my parents house. My brother's & their families are all there & we have dinner & exchange gifts. When we get home late that night, we open our gifts & go to bed. Christmas morning is for sleeping in! My husband cooks breakfast ( yummy french toast & sausage) & then we go around visiting friends & family all day.

All of the women in the family always get new pajamas & slippers, & stuff from bath & body works & then something else special. My dad always gets an expensive bottle of scotch & he always gives my mom the same bottle of perfume that she's worn forever.
I always have to make spinach dip & my sister in law always makes sausage balls. Mom always makes her Neiman Marcus cookies & pumpkin rolls.

This year will be very different though. My parents are going to Virginia to spend Christmas with my older brother & his wife. This is a shock, but I'm so glad that they are doing it. My brother is thrilled. We will be having our family christmas on the 16th this year at my house, since my parents aren't putting up a tree & they're leaving on the 17th. My husband & I will be spending Christmas eve with his family this year.

Oh yeah, my precious pets always have their own stockings & presents too :)
