Anybody facing/dreading a long drive this holiday season? How do you keep the troops in the backseat (and the front seat) safe and entertained?

Hi there CM Corrine, I was hoping you'd stop by....

I have no more little ones to raise chaos in the back seat.

Not traveling for Xmas but we did for Thanksgiving...I have 3 dvd players so all 3 kids can watch their own thing...Its the gr8est thing...Other than that the older 2 slept most of the way and will just listen to their Ipods....The baby was happy eating on his popcorn and watching movies...We drove 10 hours each way....

Well, it's been a long time since I had to entertain a young one in a car, but I'd play games like find out of state license plates and find a red car or whatever. And I'd have books on hand for her and stuff to draw with.

Now I amuse myself with books and occasional slow motion car race commentary when really bored and stuck in traffic.

No long drives here thank goodness,
However when we did & the boys were small ..
I made up a *goodie* bag of little toys & snacks.
They loved that & played quietly for hours.
We would do road games as well about signs & licenses too.
Always had some fun picture books with tapes for them & me as well :)
