Just checking out some more iVillage sites and came across your question. I just had to laugh!
I've never cut my own hair. I'm one of those talentless people who have trouble doing anything with their hair other than wash it.
My daughter was about 8 years old when she let her best friend, who was around 12 at the time, cut her hair. It was quite a bit shorter when she came home than when she walked out the door. She did a decent job of cutting it for a child though. That haircutting child is now my beautician! She is fabulous! She worked with me and we found a cut that I can do myself in between visits for trims! She took the time to teach me how to use the hair products I would need and now when I start having bad hair days, I just call Brooke and go get another trim.
I just love going to visit her. When she first tried my style, she stood back and pronounced she loved it. She said it was the "sassy momma" style because that's how she remembered me growing up as a kid. Now I had a style to match my "sassy momma" personality. What a card! LOL!!!
Hi Suzan...when I was younger and had long hair I would trim it but now that my hair is short I figure there is no room for mistakes so I let my beautician friend from high school cut and color my hair. I love going to my beauty parlor because it's something like the one in the movie with Julie Roberts, Sally Field and Dolly Parton..can't remember the name of the movie right now...small old town look with my high school friend as my beautician and same people getting haircuts all the time...I guess I told you more than you wanted to know...LOL
Yes I still cut my hair when I get a wild hair...But its just the ends nothing major...I used to cut DH and Brets hair until one day I just couldnt take it nemore...That was bout 2 yrs ago, up until then they always got their hair cut at home...Ive cut Brits for yrs now but I only trim the ends, she likes her hair long....
But for the most part we all spend way to much money our hair...Its just cost me $100 to color, trim, cut Bret and wax both him and I UGH...Hate to fork out that money just for our hair but gotta do what u gotta do...Next wk Brit is going red and DH needs a haircut, Brit also needs waxing so that will b another $100...
Yep, I cut my own hair every so often (it's long so I just trim it and fix my bangs). I like to go to the hairdresser's when I want a bigger change and then I just maintain the cut from there until I want a change again. I also nearly always do my kid's hair. They like to go to the kiddy cuts place so I take them there sometimes.
DH refuses to cut his hair at all and is starting to look like a mountain man but I still love him.
Having said all that, I dyed my hair last night and for the first time ever I missed a huge patch on the back of my head. I'm really ticked off about it. It would have looked so good because all the rest of it looks really good except for the big SPOT on the back of my HEAD!
