Funny, I did not see mother in law on there! LOL. I do everything in my power to avoid MIL and Dh's uncle whenever it is his family. I avoid SIL at my family, but she hasn't been coming because I think she knows she isn't well liked right now. DHs uncle gets out of control. He is mean. I might make a casual comment about the weather and he replies real nasty "who the f!@# gave you permission to speak?!" MIL is all about the drama. Don't dare mention any health thing to her because she has already had it and worse. I swear I could say I know someone who has malaria and I guarentee she has it too! LOL When she really does have a medical condition there isn't going to be a single person who is going to care because she has cried wolf soooooo many times.

My kids and husband is all the family I need.

Amen to that! DH and I kinda went that route for a year. We stayed close with my family but DH walked completely away from his, realizing that all he really needed and wanted was me and Cassidy. Let me tell you though, his family did NOT like it. After about a year of us not being at holidays, birthdays and picnics they realized he meant business. They may not like me but they at least treat me with some respect now because they know they don't have any choice if they want DH in their lives.

OMG Glenda, that is a ton of drama. It sucks royal. THe holdidays are supposed to be about family and love and peace and giving. Heck, as far as Christmas goes it is truly about the biggest and best gift ever given in Jesus himself. Yet so many lose sight of that. It becomes a battle one way or another. Who can have the most control? Who can have the last word? Who gave the better gifts? Who spent more money? It is sad. My Inlaws fall into that bigtime. My idiot brother and his family do to kinda. It is really sad. When God sent his only son as the ultimate gift for us He never planned for it to be like this. If it wasn't for that gift I swear I would skip this holiday some years. It gets harder and harder to find the Christmas spirit.

You certainly are very lucky Donna,
Wow with all your family too .. awesome to hear.
How sad on the guy that is so shy though ..
Guessing most people that are shy like that have some problems.
Maybe one day he'll come out of his shell :)

{{{Glenda}}}
Can't imagine how you get through with all that goes on in your family
Has to be tough ..
I had a step parent although would never admit that is what she was, LOL
Seeing as how I was in my middle 20's when it happened.
Anyway .. I think you would do well to focus on your closet family.
Ones you know that you can count on to be there for you at all times.
Ignore the others & pretend they are not there
I know I am bad :)

I would a void them both like the plague
Hope you don't have to encounter them too often.
What does DH have to say about his Mom ?
Good luck as I know you'll need it :)
