Having any fun this weekend?

Doing anything productive?

Just relaxing?

Watching any movies?

Anything you wish you were doing, but can't?

Here's one similiar in that the fabric is nylon, so it wouldn't stick and cause matting. This one is reversable and nylon on both sides with a warm filler. Besides warmth, it helps keep their tummy dry and helps snow balls from forming on their tummy. Unless you take Holly out for longish walks in the winter, the coat wouldn't be on that long either. I just put Shelby's on when she goes out to potty. I also have a yellow

It is horrible! We live in good ole Indiana and apparently this is state guidelines. Kindergarten was a blast with reading. The school she attended taught whole language instead of phonics. Whole language basically means memorizing. C-A-T spells cat just because it does, not because the c says "k" etc. That made it very hard for DD. Whole language encourages mispelling too. Spell it like it sounds. So school may look like skol. That makes sense because they haven't been taught any phonics! Dyslexia is on the rise now too largely due to this method. The "treatment" for dyslexia is phonics phonics phonics. Many kids got passed over without knowing they had dyslexia because the schools were already teaching the right method to help them. Not any more. Many schools are going to this whole language bs. They wanted to hold DD back in kindergarten because of her reading ability. I was determined and armed myself with lots of phonics books, workbooks and games. I worked with her daily through the entire summer. Guess what, by first grade she was almost reading at level. Of course I didn't learn to read until first grade myself. Back then they taught colors, shapes, letters, numbers, sharing, cutting and gluing in kindergarten. Now they learn addition, subtraction, telling time, reading...... It is insane. We switched schools for first grade and she excelled. They taught phonics. First grade also taught counting on (encouraged using your fingers even) and number lines and such. This year is a whole different ball game. She has a D- in vocab because, even though give 6 vocab words a week, the test only consists of 2 questions. Miss one and you fail! I refuse to pressure her to be perfect. The vocab test is one that comes with the reading curriculum. The teacher and I are not seeing eye to eye right now. It is ridiculous. Seems to me that they are making it so much harder than it has to be.

WOW .... it is frightening what the Ph.D's in their Ivory Towers come up with to torture our children ... and teachers and parents, also.

Here it is Sunday afternoon and my to do plans for today are yet to be done...arghhh

So far I've taken 2 naps...had breakfast & lunch amd zzzzzed...well there still is daylight sssooo......soon as I can get DH in tow...will at least get the artwork changed out---that's really most important to me right now! Tomorrow will be pick-up day and last minute sweep day---I love having houseguests...really puts me in the mood to put the place in order! I think we're going to proceed with having the cleaning gals come in once a month--really well worth the cost. We do a good job day to day but scrubbing the floors and cleaning the showers and tubs really are a bit much with everthing else we have on our plates these days.

I think we'll be making a really special effort to see Australia the movie, the week following Thanksgiving. After seeing some of the previews and the interviews on Oprahs' Show we both think this is a must see in the theatre. I'm excited, been awhile since I've been TO the show...not that I'm complaining, but the theatre is new and has all the very latest in sight ans sound! Since we've visited Oz twice it's even that much more of interest to us...given the chance I'd return for another visit...so much to see, such a huge and beautiful country! The people all so friendly and welcoming...even tolerated we "yanks" not parking right or using the roundabouts properly!!...LOL

Oh my got off topic....wekkend, whay I'mnot doing...right? haahaaaa

We are watching a movie on our Blue-Ray....don't remember the title, we both were too tired to see it through to the end, tonight we'll see it through to the end! What we did see was cute, interested in seeing more---
