All the "eat healty hype" as far as I am concerned is spoiling everyone holidays.  Schools have even said all healthy snacks for holiday parties.  Geesh let kids have some fun and be kids, let them have fun Halloween candy, its once a year for crying out loud!!!  Thowing calories into our faces about pumpkin pie, dressing and all the other holiday food!  Its once a year!  Yes, for those on a diet, have some of all of the Thanksgiving food, eat a small serving, piece, ect.  But geesh have some fun and be guilt free!

I am tired of the media telling people how to raise their kids and telling me what to eat!  Enough already!!!!

Just needed to vent this!!!!

I'm with you Bev, the real deal for me! There are certain foods I don't prepare except for this time of year and I plan to have a very stress-free holiday from beginning to end! lol I do remember trying to stay "on-course" when I was dieting one year, what a miserable experience...as I kept passing all those special dishes---my resolve was weakening!..lol Later that evening...after struggling through dinner, when it was time to build those wonderful turkey "dagwood sandwiches" I made darn sure to be 1st in line.....haahaa That had to be the most delicious treat I'd had in a long time and I enjoyed every bite....guilt-free! After that I re-thought dieting and my goals and being realistic when I felt the need to lose weight!

oooohhh yum to your fudge....in our family it's rocky-road and 1 or 2 pieces is about all I ever can eat, but what a wonderful treat...even on top of my pies! lol

Congrats Mom for taking charge...if more parents would get involved in what's going on and if they approve or don't speak-up! ggggrrr to the spineless teacher...imho Sorry but teachers should take a stand, even some that won't be "popular"! Aren't teachers supposed to Make a Difference? Again my Congrats---

There you are CinCin.....you were/are a teacher that did make a difference! Looking back on those years you did classroom teach I'll just bet each year you had 1 if not a few more that worked their butts-off...because you inspired them! I remember having a Chemistry teacher in HS that taught his classes much like my college science classes---he was tough....but what a great teacher! I never worked so hard to get a B+ in all my HS years....when I was stumped in an exam it really upset me---hated to think I was disappointing him....

Bree .... I cannot tell you how touched I am by all the students who are finding me on Facebook .... kids I taught over 20 years ago .... and reading their fond memories has really made me see the power a teacher or a coach can have over these kids!!

Why listen to the media in the first place. I agree to a certain degree that we all should be careful what we eat and what we are feeding our children. There are an enormous amount of children that are obese, and they got there because of how they are being fed. Lets face it when there is no junk food in the house they can not eat it, I believe in healthy eating especially for children BUT..........I also agree with you 100% that comes the holiday don't take the fun away from the kids. They should be able to have some junk food and enjoy as long as it is in moderation, I do not see anything wrong with it. Be it an adult or a child.

Don't allow the media to upset you, just don't read it or listen to it. You should know what you and your children should or should not be eating.

Be well, have a happy Thanksgiving and enjoy with sunshine and laughter in your life.

((((((hugs))))))
